Age gracefully

Today is Dec 21, 2012! This day was supposed to be the Mayan calendar apocalypse day! That's just a myth, really!

Today is not the end of the world, it's a new beginning since the Earth is going on its next journey.

Still, I will be ready if a natural disaster strikes, most possibly there is no apocalypse.

I want to celebrate and remind myself to live my life to the fullest! Erm, and age gracefully!

Ageing gracefully doesn't mean one should look, dress or act their age . It's attitude and behaviour that matters! Everyone has the freedom to choose what to wear, how to behave and appear in public as long as you are happy with yourself.

I've gained more knowledge and experience as I grow older, by that I come to understand myself better and know exactly who I am and what I want! Growing old is mandatory but I think of it as a process of defining myself! . I want to grow old gracefully with an unstoppable spirit . A toned body would definitely be a bonus!

I will be forever young at heart! Even though, one day my age will be a closely guarded secret.

But for now...
Cherish the moment!

"Try to learn to breathe deeply, really to taste food when you eat, and when you sleep, really to sleep. Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough."

How to pack and organize luggage

Only few more days to my holiday trip in Taiwan, my luggages are all organized and ready for the trip!

Here are some of my packing tips!

Make a list of things you want to pack.

Categorize different purpose items into small bags or pouches, it's easier to reach for them later. Some of the pouches I often pack are:

1. Cosmetic pouch.
2. Lingerie pouch.
3. Hair styling product pouch.
4. Hair styling tool pouch.
5. T-shirt pouch.
6. Lg's socks and underwears pouch.
7. Chargers and Lg's shaver pouch.
8. Toiletries pouch.

For packing clothes:

Depending on the purpose of your trip and the weather of the destination to decide what clothes you should bring. I usually sort all the clothes that I consider bringing, then mix and match them before deciding what to pack.

Roll up clothes to save space. Make sure you fold them neatly and flat before rolling to avoid wrinkles. Pack rolled clothes in A3 or A4 ziplock bags to make them even more compact.

That's how I organize my luggage all the time! I hope these tips are helpful!

Merry X'mas!

Christmas season is here! Merry Christmas everyone!

We went to Orchard Road to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere, as an essential part of our tradition every year!

The holiday spirit is definitely here! As usual, I like the Christmas decorations at Orchard Road.

The theme for 2012 is "Christmas on A Great Street".

I love how the street looked amazingly illuminated by the lights. All the shopping malls were well decorated. Christmas songs were played everywhere. The Christmas atmosphere is spreading through the air.

Shipwrecked: Tang Treasures and Monsoon Winds

I'm slowly catching up with updating my backdated posts. Here is another exhibition I've been to. It's Shipwrecked: Tang Treasures and Monsoon Winds at the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands.

The exhibition displayed fascinating Chinese Tang Dynasty treasures and its maritime trade.

In 1998, a fisherman diving for sea cucumbers off the coast of Belitung, an island in the Java Sea, came across an unexpected mound rising above the flat sea floor. It was composed of ceramic bowls and jars, some whole, others fragmentary, buried in the muddy sand.

When salvagers began investigating the site soon afterwards, they discovered that these objects were just part of an ancient cargo that consisted of tens of thousands of ceramics and other, even more precious artefacts and that the ship had carried them was far from home.

The ninth-century Belitung ship is the oldest ocean-going vessel ever found in Southeast Asian waters, and the only Arab dhow.

With its stupendous cargo of Chinese goods, from mass-produced Changsha bowls to prized celadons and white wares.

It confirms the existence of a direct maritime trade route from the Gulf to the South China Sea, and embodies the seafaring enterprise that give birth to legends such as that of Sinbad.

A cache of rare and spectacular Tang dynasty gold and silver objects adds further to the mystery surrounding the ship's final voyage.

It's quite an interesting trip, enjoy the photos!

I was inspired

I read the news about Tan Swie Hian  who became the most expensive living artist in Singapore after his oil painting When The Moon Is Orbed (140cm x 206cm), was sold for 18.975 million yuan (S$3.7 million) at the Poly Autumn Auction's Modern And Contemporary Chinese Art Evening Sale in Beijing.

When The Moon Is Orbed (140cm x 206cm)

I like the painting and was astonished at the high price. Somehow I wasn't impressed with his skill in this painting, it looked amateurish! I expected something better especially since it was done by a recognised artist and a renowned master who is more than double my age...

But this is encouraging to me! I must continue to focus on what I can achieve! There's a fire in my heart right now, it's raging! I know I can be a good artist! I'll work harder and wait until opportunity knocks.. I'm all ears now... because...Opportunity sometimes knocks very softly.
