Sentosa Flowers 2009

On day 3 of the Lunar New Year, I went to the Sentosa Flowers Festival.

The Merlion statue at Sentosa.

The entrance.

Walking along the flower decorated road.

Flowers displayed around the beach area.

It was very hot that day yet I had to queue under the sun most of the time. Why is it always so crowded everywhere in Singapore?

Luckily I brought my portable fan with me.

Sunflowers for my dearest sister.

Rainbow! Smile!

I was in the mood of taking photos of pink flowers that day.

Singapore River HongBao 2009

I went to the Singapore River HongBao on day 2 of the Lunar New Year. To my surprise, it was very crowded there.

Everyone tried to squeeze onto the floating platform. This platform is usually used for the National Day Parade. I've never got the ticket for the National Day Parade, so this was my first time coming to this place.

Good afternoon Singapore!

The entrance to the Singapore River HongBao platform.

Decorated with lots of lanterns.

Happily smiling once I got onto the platform.

Lots of pretty lanterns displayed on the platform, but it was hard for me to pose with them, because it was very crowded, I told ya!

Anyone want a steak?

Or a mandarin orange?

Night view.

Firecrackers are banned in Singapore, but you can still enjoy watching firecrackers here.

God of Fortune lantern.

At 8pm every night, when the firecrackers set off, the God of Fortune would give out gold-coloured paper pieces. Everyone tried to grab as much as they can, because they believed that will bring good luck and prosperity, some people even opened their umbrellas to catch the gold flakes. I was just standing there and still lots of gold flakes dropped on my head and my dress, then I just picked them up and put in my pocket.

Peranakan Museum

Sorry for my disappearance for a week. I didn't forget to update my blog, I've just recovered from my cold.

I went to the Peranakan Museum to visit the Serenity in Stone: The Qingzhou Discovery exhibition. Singapore is the only place in Southeast Asia to have this exhibition. However no photographs were allowed in this exhibition. But I still can take photographs in the rest of the galleries without flash. Another reason that I wanted to visit this museum was because of the influence by a drama called The Little Nyonya. If you like this drama like me, you should consider a trip to the museum too. This museum is all about the Nyonya culture.

Here are some of the photos.

Listening to what Peranakan ladies chatted about in the past.

Listening to Peranakan food introductions. I'm fascinated about these Baba porcelains.

Continuing to watch some Peranakans talking here.

And resting! :D

Off to Chinatown.

To enjoy the Lunar New Year atmosphere.

Peek a boo!

Playing around.

Happy Lunar New Year everyone!

On the day we were going back to Singapore, we woke up early at 5 in the morning preparing to go out to this orange farm and a strawberry farm. Our third brother-in-law drove us and his family all the way from Taipei to Hsin Chu and to the airport after that.
