Key to progress

I have started drawing pretty well at a young age of 3 but only started watercolor painting few years back. I treated drawing and painting as a hobby and never went to any proper art lessons before. I enjoy self-taught through practice.

I used to feel disappointed at myself easily when the painting didn't turn out looking good and end up tearing away my paintings and somehow lost interest in painting for a while!

But Lg always encourage me not to give up painting and he even claimed that all my paintings belonged to him, I have no right to destroy them!

I painted a really beautiful painting today! Here it is:

"Immersed", watercolour, 30cm x42cm. A sakura tree beside a waterfall and somehow they immersed into each other in a miracle way!

I enjoy the process of painting this one! It's fun and motivated me to keep on practicing to be better in watercolor medium!

After first few washes, wet in wet, I kept layering colors until I was pleased! To be honest, I didn't have any idea what to paint next, I just knew that I want something lively and positive!

Then I wanted to make my painting look miracle so I sprinkled some salt to add sparkles to it!

After that, I wanted to add some mysterious feeling, therefore I painted a tree with branches using Chinese Ink.

But I accidentally spilled huge patches of ink onto my painting.
Clumsy me! !

I panicked but I remembered Lg always reminded me that it's ok to make mistakes, just fix it and work it out again. That's when the whole picture appeared in my mind, I knew that I could fix the ink patches by adding flowers to it, rather than tearing it away!

I continued adding flowers and branches to my painting and also some shades of green to my sakura tree.

Almost done and I'm happy that I saved my painting and the result is beyond what I expected! Doesn't it look like a sweet dream?!

“Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.”
